What is Up With These Soft Toned Horn

I grew up during a time when a car was a car and a car horn was a car horn.  You could hear it for blocks!  All I can figure is that someone felt like they caused noise pollution or something.  I bought a new car, and the horn was one of those soft toned horns and I just cannot have that.  I wanted it to be loud enough to actually use when I needed it.  Train horns are loud and you can find them online.  They make a train noise instead of the soft tone of today’s honking horns.  I am not a compulsive honker, but I do like my car horn to make a sound.
