Single Mother’s Have More Rights Than Ever Before

It was 1970 and I was twenty four years old, single, and the mother of three children. I was single two weeks when my landlord evicted me because he felt I would be a bad credit risk.  A year later I was denied the opportunity to buy a cozy, affordable home for the same reason.  Being a single parent was a black mark in the 1970′s.  Today there are single mothers rights which make it illegal to do the kinds of things which routinely happened in the past.  Rather than feeling bitter about the discrimination back then, I am delighted that modern mothers and children are now protected.
