The video game industry grew strongly in United States, Europe and Australia with the arrival of cartoon network video games online and other easy games in the late 1970s and spread rapidly throughout the world. Having noted a dramatic growth throughout the 1980s, Japanese industry (especially the Nintendo Company Ltd.) was launched to refine and fully develop the technology of the game, introducing popular games like Super Mario Bros. Enterprises based in Japan, as Nintendo and Sega (Dreamcast), continue to dominate the global market. Since 1993 these two companies are making efforts to control and establish the content of the games. The initiative responds to the criticism, especially parents, concerned about the escalating violence and the introduction of topics for adults in children’s games.
