My Childhood Fish

From what I can remember as a kid, owning a goldfish was probably one of the easiest things you could do as far as raising and caring for a pet was concerned.  I mean, it’s not like goldfish care required any real skill or knowledge; you just fed the thing once a day being careful not to give it too much, kept it out of the reach of the cat, and maybe cleaned the bowl every once in a while if you remembered to.   And of course, if the worse happened and the poor thing died, you just flushed it down the toilet and could start all over again for just under three dollars.  Now as an adult, and the proud owner of three dogs, I can tell you that as much as I love my precious canines I miss the simplicity of goldfish care.
